Kevin “Scott” Gentry, 49, has been arrested and charged with Murder, according to Kentucky State Police.
Police had contacted DESI (state police Drug Enforcement and Special Investigations Unit) about a murder for hire investigation.
On Monday, DESI detectives met up with Nashville detectives and an informant in Bowling Green. A recorded phone call was made to Gentry where he said he wanted to have James M. Darnell killed.
The informant, posing as the man Gentry would hire for the murder of Darnell, met up with Gentry at the K-Mart parking lot in Glasgow. Once there, Gentry provided the informant with a picture of Darnell, along with address, as well as $2,500 cash for the murder.
According to the citation, Gentry promised an additional $2,500 after the murder.
Gentry owns Scott’s City Limits in Edmonton and hosts a wide variety of musicians and entertainment. He hosts the shows and calls himself Mr. City Limits.
This isn’t Gentry’s first run in with the law. In February, he was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, receiving stolen property, first-degree possession of a controlled substance (enhanced), prescription for controlled substance not in original container (enhanced) and first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (first offense, enhanced).
He is currently lodged in the Barren County Jail, along with Timothy Madden, who was charged for Murder in the death of 7-year-old Gabbi Doolin.
Gentry is on a $100,000 cash bond and will appear in court April 5 at 9am.
